Designed for the Paimio Sanatorium in Finland, the Paimio Chair
is one of Alvar Aalto’s most significant experiments with bent
plywood and laminated wood.
The continuous curved seat was developed to provide comfort
without the use of traditional upholstery, while its flowing
geometry reflects Aalto’s interest in organic forms and the
possibilities of industrial production.
