CESCA CHAIR

Designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, the Cesca Chair combines traditional materials with the industrial language of tubular steel. Originally known as the B32, the chair became one of Breuer’s most recognizable furniture designs.

Its defining feature is the continuous tubular steel frame, which eliminates the need for rear legs and creates a cantilevered structure. The seat and backrest are formed by wooden frames with woven cane inserts, producing a contrast between industrial and handcrafted elements.

The apparent simplicity of the Cesca Chair comes from the precise balance between structure, flexibility and visual lightness. By reducing the supporting frame to a continuous line, Breuer transformed the conventional chair into an object defined by movement, suspension and open space.
