BRAUN SK4

Designed in 1956 by Dieter Rams and Hans Gugelot, the Braun SK4 combined a radio and record player within a radically simplified domestic appliance.

Its transparent acrylic lid exposed the technical components rather than hiding them, while the white metal body and restrained control layout gave the object a precise and rational appearance.

The SK4 became an important example of post-war German industrial design and established many of the principles that would later characterize Braun’s visual identity.
