Designed for the first Memphis collection, Carlton combines the functions of a bookcase, storage unit and room divider within a single expressive composition.

Its brightly colored laminated surfaces and diagonal shelves transform functional elements into an almost anthropomorphic arrangement of geometric forms.

Carlton became one of the central icons of Memphis, challenging modernist ideas of neutrality and functional purity through ornament, color and deliberate visual complexity.
